Welcome everyone! I am excited to have you joining me in Grade 3 for the 2022/2023 school year. My name is Ashley Barrington and this is my eleventh year teaching with the Fort McMurray Public School District. I am excited to be back for another year!

Grade Three will be a new and exciting year for your students and it will come with lots of challenges, and the chance to investigate and explore new topics and ideas. There are many new things to learn, achievements and accomplishments that will be celebrated, and the building of our classroom community to look forward to.

We have a classroom website at www.ashleybarrington.com and newsletter which are updated weekly with homework and class activities. Both are excellent tools to help keep students organized and to also help keep parents aware of homework, student activities, and upcoming events. Seesaw will be used to curate a digital portfolio of students' work and to share individual student work and progress with families. Seesaw is a great way to communicate with me on a daily basis and students and parents should feel free to leave comments and questions as needed. I will do my best to answer your comments in a timely manner.

Students will be primarily using duotangs, notebooks, and workbooks this year. Students will be organizing all of their work based on subject using these materials. Students are expected to maintain these items, keeping work for each subject in the respective duotang/notebook. Students also have a bin in the classroom that they can use to store their extra materials such as pencils, erasers, glue sticks, etc. as well as a hook outside the classroom for personal items.

My expectations for the class are straight forward. I expect students to be responsible for their belongings, to help to keep their table and personal space tidy, have the materials needed for class, finish homework, and to return it as requested. I also expect students to follow the 3 Rs of our classroom: respect yourself, respect others and respect the environment. We will continue to explore these areas in the upcoming weeks.

It’s going to be a busy year and I’m looking forward to meeting you all. If you have any questions please feel free to email me or to call the school and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you,

Ashley Barrington, Grade 3 Teacher
